Railway Board issued guidelines regarding ATVM in stations
Railway Board has issued guidelines to issue of unreserved tickets through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) in major stations in India.
ATVM in major stations were installed by the respect of Zonal Railways with the guidelines of Railway Board’s order and they given permit upto 31st March 2013 only. Now it has been extended further one more year with some restrictions for facilitators to run the ATVMs to issue unreserved tickets to the passengers. The facilitator should be a retired railway employee and entitlement of age below 65. The facility of 5% bonus is continue to available for passengers who use their own ATVM smart cards.
The scheme of facilitator should be extended for one more year up to 31.3.2014 with the following safeguards...
i) At stations where there is one ATVM, first preference for buying tickets shall be to passengers who buy for themselves i.e., through self operation. “Facilitators” shall use the machine after self operating passengers are done with the usage of the machine.
ii) At the stations where more than one ATVM is installed, at least 50% of the machines will be earmarked for passengers for their self operation and shall not be accrued by “facilitators”.
iii) The above conditions should be notified prominently alongwith the fact that the facility of 5% bonus is available for passengers who use their own ATVM smart cards.
